Templates & Frameworks
Practical frameworks I've developed and use regularly
Life Purpose Canvas
Personal Development
One-page framework for clarifying your direction when feeling lost or unfocused. Four quadrants: What energizes you? What are you good at? What does the world need? What can you be paid for? The intersection reveals your purpose. I use this annually to check if I'm still aligned with my values and direction. Simple but powerful for major life decisions. Works best when you're honest about your actual strengths (not what you wish they were) and realistic about market needs.
Quarterly Review Template
Goal Setting
Structured 90-day review process I do every quarter. Three sections: Wins (what went well), Lessons (what didn't), Next (priorities for next quarter). Includes metrics review, goal assessment, and energy audit. The key is consistency - same questions, same format, every quarter. Helps you course-correct quickly rather than drifting for months. I schedule mine for the last week of each quarter and treat it as non-negotiable time for reflection.
Decision Matrix Template
Decision Making
Weighted scoring system for complex decisions with multiple factors. List your options, identify decision criteria, assign importance weights (1-10), score each option (1-10), calculate weighted totals. Removes emotion from big decisions. I use this for career moves, major purchases, and business decisions. The key is choosing the right criteria and being honest about weights. Forces you to make your decision-making process explicit and repeatable.
Investment Tracking Spreadsheet
Wealth Building
Simple spreadsheet to track portfolio performance beyond what your broker provides. Tracks purchase price, current value, dividends received, total return, and allocation percentages. Includes XIRR calculation for true performance measurement. I update mine monthly to stay aware of my allocation drift and rebalancing needs. Helps separate investment performance from market noise. Essential for maintaining discipline during volatile periods.
Goal Breakdown Framework
Achievement
System for turning big goals into daily actions. Start with annual goal, break into quarterly milestones, monthly targets, weekly actions, daily tasks. Each level answers: What needs to happen this period to hit the bigger target? I use this for major projects and yearly goals. The key is working backwards from the deadline and building in buffer time. Makes overwhelming goals manageable by focusing on just the next small step.
Weekly Review Template
Productivity
Simple end-of-week reflection to stay on track. Five minutes reviewing: What got done? What didn't and why? What's the priority for next week? Any adjustments needed? I do this Friday afternoon to mentally close the week and Monday morning to plan ahead. Prevents weeks from blending together and ensures important tasks don't slip through cracks. The consistency matters more than perfection.
